An ABA therapist career refers to that of an Applied Behavior Analyst therapist who specializes in dealing with patients who have behavioral problems and have difficulty behaving in social situations. They work in schools, universities, clinics and hospitals and analyze these patients, listen to their past history and make an assessment on why do they have difficulty in certain behaviors like reading, talking, working or maintaining personal hygiene.

Usually ABA therapists treat young patients and children but there have been many cases where adults also display abnormality in behavior. They are especially known to work with children or adults with Autism or Asperger’s Syndrome and have brought positive changes in their day to day activities.

In order to become an ABA therapist you have to be trained in this field and also need to be certified after clearing the required exams. You can study subjects like psychology and also work as a volunteer or counselor in areas related to this to get more practical experience.
