The account executive career revolves around the establishment and development of business as well as business relationships.  The account executive makes sure that the company or organizations he works for is able to build new business.  He is able to do this by generating leads, establishing business relationships, promote products and services in various avenues, delivering presentations on products and services offered, negotiating with clients, collaborate with marketing staff, and maintaining relationships with existing clients.  He is tasked to develop and implement marketing and advertising strategies in order to close a sale.  The account executive works on attaining or exceeding sales targets.  Aside from having a business-related educational background, one has to have the skills required of an account executive.  An account executive is driven by his own ambition and drive to succeed.

How to become an Account Executive

To become an account executive, one must at least a high school diploma or GED.  Earn a bachelor’s degree, preferably a business-related degree such as business, marketing, advertising or management. Gain relevant experience in advertising, sales, and marketing. One has to have excellent skills communication and interpersonal skills.  One must have the ability to interact with different types of people.An individual aspiring for this type of career must be self-motivated, independent, and confident.
