The accountant auditor takes care of an organization’s auditing needs.  The responsibilities and tasks of an accounting auditor includes verification of an organization’s financial information, checking the accounting methods used, gathering and analysis of  information, and preparation of reports.  He is to make recommendations as well.  The accountant auditor may be classified as an external or internal auditor.

The external auditor works independently from the organization.  It is either he is self-employed or he works through public firm.  On the other hand, the internal auditor is hired directly by the organization or company.  The accountant auditor must have excellent skills in organization, communication, analysis, and problem solving.  He must have an eye for detail, since the job entails one to check on varied information.  Doing this job requires on to have a formal education and experience.

How to become an AccountantAuditor

To become an accountant auditor, one must earn a bachelor’s degree in accounting.  Pursue graduate studies and earn a master’s degree or MBA.  Obtain a certification to become a Certified Public Accountant.  One must have skills in math and computer software applications. Gain relevant experience as an auditor.   Other certification designations such as Certified Internal Auditor may be obtained through the Institute of Internal Auditors.  Gain membership in a professional association for auditors.
