Air Force Captain Career

A Captain of the US Air Force is a company grade officer rank. An US Air Force Captain career means that you will be leading a unit that comprises of enlisted men as well as officers. The officers reporting to an Air Force Captain include Second and First Lieutenant. The enlisted men will include Airman Basic, Airman, Airman First Class, Senior Airman, Staff Sergeant, Technical Sergeant, Master Sergeant, Senior Master Sergeant, and Chief Master Sergeant. As an Air Force Captain, you will be assisting senior Air Force officers in different types of operations including flight operations, reconnaissance, intelligence missions, and much more. As a captain, you may be assigned to different units of the US Air Force including flight operations, fighter pilot squadrons, navigation and communication, information, and even health services.

How to become an Air Force Captain:

You have two options for pursuing an Air Force Captain career. The first option is to complete an undergraduate program in a specific discipline and then apply for enrollment in the Officers Training Academy. Once the training is complete, you will join the US Air Force as a Second Lieutenant and then slowly get promoted to being a Captain. Normally it takes 4 years to get promoted to a Captain. The second option is to join the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) and pass out as an officer. He also, you will join the Air Force as a Second Lieutenant and will have to grow through the ranks to become a Captain.

The minimum educational requirement to pursue Air Force Captain Career is a graduation degree in any discipline and this should be followed up with an intensive training at the Officer Training School (OTS). In order to enroll in the academy, you need to clear several academic, analytical, and physical tests. Some of the tests that you will need to clear include Air Force Officer Qualifying Test (AFOQT) and the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). Once you are in the academy, you need to clear United States Air Force Basic Military Training Program or BMT to become an Air Force Officer.
