Hi
I would like to find out if I can get advice. I currently work in the insurance industry and have been for the last 6 years. I have done this with relative success. In my first job I was appointed a team leader, i then moved on to another company which I subsequently left because I wanted to change industries. I then ended up taking another job almost out of desperation but in the same industry.
I have been with the current company for 4 years and have been appointed a sales manager.
My issue is that, I would like to move on to an FMCG company. I am being realistic in applying for positions that still relate to sales. My ultimate aim though is to be more involved in marketing. The response that I get from my applications to FMCG companies is that I lack experience in their field. I get the feeling that I will not even be given a chance to prove that I will be capable of doing the job because of my experience in the financial services industry. Is there any advice you can give me on how to convince these companies that I can do the job?
I have have a 3 year diploma in marketing management from the Institute of Marketing Management and I am passionate about marketing. But I feel that the industry that I am in is not suited for where I want to be and where I want to go. I am currently studying for the GMAT exam in order for me to apply for an MBA. This is something I have been wanting to do for a long time now and, finally I am getting closer to my dream. I would really like some advice on how to tackle successfully trying to get a job in a different industry.
Though I agree with whatever is mentioned in the article, how many genuine careercoaches are there in India- can you please let me know.
