Career change for teachers throws open many avenues and paths.  Though teaching can be a very satisfying and personally gratifying career, many teachers like to opt for different careers after a period of time.

Class room teaching equips you with many skills which can be used in other careers as well. Skills like inter-personal communication, co-ordination, team-work, ability for continuous learning, creativity and counseling are just some of the skills that most teachers have.

All these skills are in great demand for various types of careers outside the purview of teaching.  It is important to evaluate and find out which of these skills you want to use the most.  Also, it is good to do some research and see which of these skills best suits other careers.  By undertaking such simple exercises you will understand what kind of career is most likely to appeal to you.

On the other hand, if you feel stagnated because of interacting with the same level of students, there are other alternatives.  You can pick up a different subject or level of students for training or teaching.  By doing this you can retain the essence of your experience yet gain a different career.

Another good option is going in for administration of schools as you already have a first-hand experience of being on the teaching side.

Curriculum development and writing, counseling and management positions are also viable career change options for teachers.

It is a good idea to highlight and present your skills in a suitable manner in your resume so that interesting career options are available to you.
