Chief information officer or CIO is a job position which is also in some cases referred to as Information Technology (IT) director. A CIO is a person who is the senior most employee of any IT company. His work is to look after the IT and computer system related goals. A CIO reports to the CEO or Chief executive officer of the company. He formulates key strategies and manages the implementation of technology which is created by the company.

How to Become a Chief Information Officer

There are no specific educational requirements for a person to become a CIO. But it is common for CIOs to be graduates in a field of Science. Mostly, people with a Bachelors degree in Information Technology, computer science or software engineering stand a better chance to make it to the chair of a Chief Executive officer. These days, MBA has become the hot new CV point which makes it easy for applicant to grab the job. Though, it is usually with a lot of patience and experience that small level employees gradually climb the ladder to become CIOs.
