The clinical nurse is a nurse who specializes in clinical care.  He takes on various responsibilities.  He is tasked to develop, implement and manage the patient care.  He is responsible for educating patients and providing recommendations for physicians or healthcare providers.  He monitors and evaluates patient history and treatment plans. The clinical nurse makes sure that all medical records are maintained.  He is the one who supervises the appointments, schedules and procedures of various patients.  Aside from these, a clinical nurse is to participate in seminars or conferences to be updated with the latest medical developments.  In turn, he provides assistance in the development, coordination and evaluation of training programs/activities of the medical staff.

How to become a Clinical Nurse

The aspiring clinical nurse must earn a bachelors degree in nursing.  A 4-year degree will allow one to get employed as a clinical nurse staff.  One can choose to specialize in a particular area and earn a masters degree in nursing.  A master’s degree opens the door for advancement towards becoming a clinical nurse leader or a clinical nurse specialist.  Earn a license and certification to be eligible in providing patient care.  While doing the job as a clinical nurse, one must strive to continue learning.  Be mentored by clinical professionals, participate in training programs and earn specialized courses.
