Career Description

A copier technician career not only involves the maintenance, installation and repair of copier machines and equipment.  This includes photocopiers, digital copiers, scanners, printers and faxes.  The copier technician is responsible for determining the cause of the problem, implementing troubleshooting techniques, checking network connections, and replacing parts.  He makes sure that the copier machines or equipments function efficiently and effectively.  It is a must that a copier technician is familiar with the use of various tools and troubleshooting techniques.  The skills required of a copier technician include technical, communication and customer service.  Depending on the type of employment, one works from one place to another or stays in the office or repair shop.

How to become a Copier Technician

To become a copier technician, one has to at least carry a high school diploma. One may also earn a certificate or an associate’s degree in electronics.  Gain relevant experience in the repair of copiers.  Though certification is not required by all employers, one would do well in obtaining a specific certification.  Gain both mechanical and computer skills to be able to succeed in this type of career.
