The most financially rewarding and prestigious position in a ship is that of a cruise ship captain.  The cruise ship captain is the head of the vessel and takes full control of all operations.  He is responsible for directing and supervising the officers and crew.  He makes sure that all safety standards and regulations are properly adhered to.  The safety of the vessel and the people onboard is the responsibility of the cruise chip captain.  He is to check on the engines and other equipments and make sure that they are properly maintained.  With such a big responsibility on hand, the cruise ship captain has to undergo rigorous training and gain enough experience.

How to become a Cruise Chip Captain

To become a cruise ship captain, one must obtain a high school diploma.  One may choose to enroll in a maritime high school.  Then one may earn a bachelor’s degree through marine academies to obtain a license. One must apply for credentials, the Transportation Identification Worker Credential (TWIC) and the Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC). To be considered for the cruise ship captain position, one may earn experience as a deckhand. Gaining much experience in the operation of a cruise ship can assist one in climbing up the career ladder.  It is also a must that obtain a license as well as gain certifications.

Maritime academies provide licensing courses and mariner programs.  The programs include courses such as navigation, engineering, meteorology, radar, deck safety, math and history. An aspiring cruise ship captain enjoys both classroom and on-water training.  The extensive training program more than equips one on his journey towards managing a cruise ship.
