Commercial displays in shops, retail stores and trade shows are done by a display coordinator.  A display coordinator is tasked to plan, develop and implement design ideas for window and interior displays.  He is in charge of arranging and changing the display area, making sure that it is appealing to the customers. Together with the advertising and sales staff, he is able to come up with the appropriate display at a given period of time.  The production, installation and construction of signage, backdrops, fixtures, floorings and drapes are also handled by the display coordinator.  This type of career calls for an individual with creativity and an eye for detail.  Through formal education, one can turn his talent into a career.

How to become a Display Coordinator

To become a display coordinator, one must earn a bachelor’s degree in fine arts, applied arts or other related fields.  Gain experience in installation as well.  One must be artistically inclined and must have an awareness of the latest trends in design, specifically in fashion and furnishings.  One must be knowledgeable about textiles, power tools, basic techniques in construction, and other design materials.Aside from an artistic eye, one has to gain skills in sales and marketing as well as customer service.
