Career Description

An electronics technician performs varied tasks and duties.  Basically, he works on electronics equipment.  He may take on different titles such as field electronics technician, computer electronics technician, bench electronics technician and metrology electronics technician.  One may take more advanced positions such a senior electronics technician.  The electronics technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment, testing the equipment, implementation of troubleshooting techniques and checking for cost of parts.  One may do field work or work in a shop or office. With a highly technical type of career, the electronics technician must undergo formal training and apprenticeship.   One must have an eye for detail, a specialized skill, and knows problem solving techniques.  One must have skills in communication, customer service and human relations.

How to become an Electronics Technician

To become an electronics technician one must at least complete high school or GED.  Earn a degree in electronics, electronic technology, electrical engineering, computer engineering or other related field.  Become an apprentice and gain the necessary work experience.  Obtain a certification or a license as required in one’s location.  A certification allows one to gain better employment opportunities.

A degree in electronics gives one the necessary background in pursuing an electronic technician career.  The program covers various areas such as basic electrical concepts, current and transformers, diodes and rectification, capacitors and DC filtering, transistors and voltage regulation, audio amplification, control devices and circuits, batteries, digital electronics and computers, resonance and IC filters, analog and audio circuits, and semi-conductors.  With the program, one is able to learn troubleshooting techniques and time management as well.

    I completed my bsc electronics, i would like to do any electronics related diploma course , there are lot of options infront of me( chip leveling& designing, instrumentation…etc) can you please suggest me a good electronics related diploma course???
