The aspiring elementary school librarian must earn a bachelor’s degree in education.  Continue to take advanced courses and earn a master’s degree in library science.  Get into internship programs or volunteer work to gain relevant practical experience.  Employers provide on-the-job training to further prepare on for an elementary school librarian career. Obtain a license and certification as required by one’s location.  Take continuing education classes to update skills and strategies.
