Executive Secretary Career

An executive secretary performs various tasks in the office.  One is tasked to answer telephone calls, receive and direct fax messages, file records or documents, make necessary preparations for meetings and conferences, take inventories of office supplies, respond to inquiries, opens and screens incoming mails, receive and signs for packages delivered, issue correspondence, prepare expense reports, and prepare other documents.

He is also to provide administrative and secretarial services.  The executive secretary is to support and assist the administrator or executive.  He is to handle and maintain their schedule, making sure that all events, meeting, and conferences are well-coordinated.He is to entertain visitors and clients.  He refers them to a department or permits them to gain access to an executive’s office.

How to become an Executive Secretary

To become an executive secretary, one must at least have a high school diploma.  Some employers prefer an individual who had earned an associate degree in office administration.  One must have skills in communication, analysis, organization, and problem solving.  It is a must that an executive secretary knows how to use the computer.  An executive secretary must also have bookkeeping skills.  One must possess sensitivity and honesty.  An individual who is able to multitask is qualified to take on this career position as well.  Take continuing education courses to be updated with new office technologies.
