Career Description:

A flight attendant is a person who takes care of the passengers who on board the flight. He or she ensures that food and drinks are appropriately served, passengers have tightened their belts well, the queries of the passengers are attended to, passengers maintain their calm during the flight especially in times of trouble, passengers experience a safe journey, and enough information and instruction is provided beforehand to all the passengers, etc. There can be one or more flight attendants in the flight and act as point of contact for any detail required by the passengers. Flight attendants should be in contact with the flight pilot throughout the journey.

How to become a Flight Attendant:

There is no definite education requirement that is required to become a flight attendant. However employers prefer candidates who have completed their high school and who are hard working and have good personalities. Specialized training will be provided to the selected candidates while on job.

Candidates who want to become flight attendants should get training as flight attendants. However candidates who are selected as flight attendants are given on the job training to pick up the work requirements.

There are many schools and colleges that teach students the skills to become a flight attendant. The subjects taught are safety measures while on a flight, flight processes, check lists, etc. Candidates should develop good attitude, good behavior with co attendants and flight passengers.

Candidates can work as flight attendants in commercial aviation, airline, transportation, travel and hospitality services, corporate flights, and airport and aviation procurement sectors.  Flight attendants are paid hourly wages. The hourly wage rate varies from $15.87 to $45.04 and this translates into $23,000 to $89,000 per year.
