Handwriting analysis is also known as graphology and is increasingly being used for assessing various traits of human behavior. Handwriting analysts as they are known use this technique to study personality as well as behavior of people working in the corporate environment. Graphology is a technique that is also used to a great extent in solving crimes and hence analysts studying this technique have a bright future ahead. It is also known as brainwriting and is considered to be part science and part psychology.

How to become a handwriting analyst:

The minimum qualification for a handwriting analyst is a diploma in graphology or forensic graphology. There are several certification courses available online focusing on handwriting analysis. One can also complete their undergraduate programs in Arts especially history and Psychology in order to pursue a diploma or advanced diploma in graphology.

Handwriting analyst career courses, training, programs:

There are several colleges and universities offering handwriting analysis courses and one can choose from part-time day courses, correspondence courses, and 6-12 month on-campus courses. Most short-term and diploma courses have a maximum time duration of 6-months while certification and advanced diploma courses have a maximum time duration of 12-months.

Most of these courses focus on areas of handwriting analysis including the scope and use of Graphology, understanding of the elements of personality assessment, understanding handwriting and several elements like alignment, slant, pressure, size, speed, angle, and stroke structure.

Handwriting experts are often required by crime scene investigators (CSIs). The U.S. National average salary for a handwriting analyst varies from $20,000 to $80,000 per annum with the highest being paid in Chicago, IL ($57,131) and the lowest being offered in Dallas, TX ($39,851).
