A Hyperbaric technician is one who performs the approved hyperbaric oxygen therapies on the patients. Hyperbaric chamber and hyperbaric support systems are operated and monitored by the hyperbaric technician. On the daily systems the necessary maintenance is performed by the hyperbaric technician. He or She must rely on the judgement and experience for planning and accomplishing the goals in hyperbaric techniques.

How to Become a Hyperbaric Technician

To become a hyperbaric technician one must acquire a high school diploma or its equivalent education. They must also attain 0-2 years of relevant experience along with a certification for working as a hyperbaric technician. The candidate must be well aware with the concepts, practices and procedures used in this particular field. Some kind of creativity and latitude is also necessary in this profession.

The certification of the hyperbaric technologist is issued by the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology. The candidates are certified after they have received the training, have completed their internship, and passed the exam of the hyperbaric-technology.
