The information security analyst career involves the development, monitoring, maintenance of information security system.  The information security analyst is tasked to makes sure that the internal security controls are in operation and is appropriate.  He is to coordinate and implement information security projects, relay responses to information security issues, conduct security audits and data analysis, conduct research on security, maintain and manage security awareness, monitor compliance, and prepare the necessary documentation.

He is also responsible for the development and publication of policies, standards, and procedures related to information security.  A background in any computer-related field qualifies an individual for an information security analyst career.

How to become an Information Security Analyst

To become an information security analyst, one must earn a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, management information technology or other related field.  Some employers prefer an individual who had gained an advanced degree.  Gain relevant experience in information and computing security as well as internet security and technology.  One must be well-versed with information security policies and standards.  One must have strong skills in communication, organization, analysis, and human relations. This type of career requires an individual who has an eye for detail and skill for problem solving.
