The information security consultant specializes in the designing and implementing of security systems as needed by a client or company.  He is tasked to implement and manage the information encryption system.  To do that he has to identify, review, and assess the security needs of the client or company.  He is to work out and design a data security plan protecting the client form theft, loss, and other security issues.  The information security consultant also handles other tasks such as security audit, risk management, and security training.

He is to maintain the security system once it is implemented. To pursue this type of career, one must have the necessary experience and background in computer science or information systems.

How to become an Information Security Consultant

To become an information security consultant, one must earn a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, management information systems, and other related field.  Gain relevant experience in security, analytics, data encryption or information management systems. Gain training in data encryption and obtain a certification as well.  Certification may be obtained through the International Association of Professional Security Consultants. One must have skills in communication, presentation, analysis, data gathering, problem solving, and decision making.
