The insurance industry provides financial services to protect businesses or individuals from financial losses. Part of the industry is the insurance agencies and brokerages.  The insurance agencies and brokerages take care of the marketing and selling of insurance policies, such as life and health policies. These policies are offered to various clients through a sales and marketing team.

One key part of that team is the insurance account executive.  The insurance account executive builds the client base and is to sell to them the various products offered by the insurance agency or brokerage. It is the responsibility of an insurance account executive to know the specific needs of the client and offer a product that will exactly address the need.  Aside from educating others and promoting the product or policy, one monitors the product movement in the market. It is a must that an insurance account executive has excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.

How to become an Insurance Account Executive

To start an insurance account executive career, one must earn a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics or other related field.  High school graduates with a relevant sales experience may get a chance to get hired.  Gaining background in insurance, marketing, business and accounting will also help one land a job as an insurance account executive.  On-the-job training is provided by the employer to further prepare an insurance account executive in succeeding.
