How to become an Insurance Claims Adjuster

To become an insurance claims adjuster, one must have a college degree.  A degree in business, law, finance, accounting or any other related field is preferable.  Gain relevant experience in the insurance industry or the products which is being insured by the company.  Employers provide on-the-job training to help one become familiar with the different tasks and responsibilities.  Obtain a license.  Licensing policies and guidelines vary depending on one’s location.  Maintaining one’s license requires one to take continuing education courses.  Obtain a license and a professional certification.  Licensing requirements vary from state to state.  Professional associations such as the National Association of Independent Insurance Adjusters and the National Association of Public Insurance Adjusters will help one in pursuing this type of career.
