Information technology projects of various organizations are handled by an IT project manager.  IT project management planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation is his main responsibility.  It is the IT project manager’s responsibility to oversee the completion of an IT project.  Activities such as budgeting, scheduling and work delegation are all handled by the IT project manager.

It is his job to coordinate and collaborate with clients, suppliers and consultants as well.  Any problems or risks identified are handled by the IT project manager.  He makes sure that any risk encountered is evaluated and future risks are avoided. Working with a team requires one to have excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.

How to become an IT Project Manager

To become an IT project manager, one must earn a bachelor’s degree in information technology, technical project management or other related field.  Pursue graduate studies and earn a master’s degree in business management and information technology.  Gain relevant experience in the field of information technology.  One must also obtain a certification.  A certification gives one an edge over the others.  To be considered for an IT project management position, one must continually update himself with the latest trends and changes in technology.
