Jewelry sales involve the selling of rings, necklaces, earrings, bracelets adorned with precious stones or gems.  Making sure that customers purchase these precious items is a jewelry sales representative. The jewelry sales representative is tasked to know and explain specific features of an item. One is knowledgeable about certain cuts, types, characteristics and value of items.  He is to make recommendations as well.  He is tasked to pitch for the item, inspect the merchandise, update warranties and handle replacements.  One must also be knowledgeable with the use of a cash register.  As a sales representative, one must have skills in customer service, communication, negotiation, and organization.  Ability to multitask is advantageous.

How to become a Jewelry Sales Representative

To become a jewelry sales representative, one must have at least a high school diploma or GED.  Though experience in retail sales is not usually a requirement, having had previous experience will give one an edge in getting an employment.  Pursuing courses related to business will help one gain a better understanding of the industry.  Employers provide on-the-job training to help one become familiar with the ins and outs of jewelry selling.  Become familiar with the policies and guidelines of warranties, replacements and inspection.  As important as one’s training background, one’s personality and attitude will determine how far one will go.
