Accounting opens a lot of doors for various career positions.  An entry-level career position in accounting is that of a junior accountant.  Under the direction and supervision of a senior accountant, the junior accountant is tasked to prepare various financial documents.  He is responsible for preparing and managing journals, ledgers, balance sheets, trial balance, income statements, accounts payables, accounts receivables and financial reports.  The junior accountant makes sure that all records are filed, maintained and organized.  He is to provide the necessary assistance and support to the senior accountant.  It is a must that a junior accountant has formal education and training in accounting.  He must have skills in math, computer applications, communication, accounting and finance.

How to become a Junior Accountant

To become a junior accountant, one must earn a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or commerce. Consider getting an internship to gain practical skills and experience. Having experience in the field of accounting is necessary to be considered for the position.  On-the-job training is also provided for by the employer so as to prepare one with the ins and outs of this type of career.  Though it is not a requirement to have a certification, obtaining one will give one an edge over the others. If one seeks advancement, earning a master degree and obtaining the necessary certification is an option.
