The medical sonographer takes part in the diagnosis or evaluation of various medical conditions and diseases.  The job of a medical sonographer is to produce images of a certain part of the body through sound waves.  Before the sonography is done, the medical sonographer is to explain to the patient the procedure that is to be done.  He is to make sure that the patient is in the right position to be able to get a good image.  The medical sonographer is to take measurements and records them to help the physician makes the proper assessment.

How to become a Medical Sonographer

To become a medical sonographer, one must earn an associate or bachelor’s degree in sonography.  Gain relevant experience in the healthcare industry.  Though a certification is not required, one may get certification through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.  Take continuing education courses to maintain one’s license or certification.  One may also join professional associations for medical sonographers.  Being part of a professional association will help one in pursuing his career as a medical sonographer.  One may specialize in a specific medical field such as obstetrics, breast, or cardiac sonography.
