Model Career


Model career can be classified under different advertising and visual mediums including print modeling, electronic media modeling, and fashion or ramp modeling. A successful model career depends on the model and the type of work they do. A fashion model’s career is considered as the toughest as well as the most opted for. In print media, the requirements are normally for headshots and body shots including poses depending on the requirement. In electronic media or commercials, a model needs to act a sequence or as the script requires. In fashion or ramp modeling, one needs to actually walk the ramp in a live event and showcase the various ensembles of fashion designers.

How to become a model:

Those who are interested in pursuing a model career need to start with the basics. The most important aspect is not the education but the physical statistics or appearance. The physical attributes for male and female models are different. Male models should have a waist measuring from 26-33 inches, chest measuring 32-40 inches, and should have a minimum height of 5feet,11-inches. A female model should have body measurements that are in and around body 34-24-34 inches and their minimum height requirement is 5feet,8-inches. Apart from this, those aspiring to be models need to be physically fit and have a pleasant personality. On the educational front, a basic degree or a certification from a modeling school will be an added advantage.

Modeling career courses, training, programs:

There are specific modeling courses that one can choose from. A professional modeling program includes introduction to modeling, basic make-up, photo shoot movement, runaway basics, fashion photo-shoots, and walking on the ramp. Depending on the institution, the duration of the courses can vary 2 weeks to 3 months.
