To practice private music teaching, you may not require any professional qualifications.  All you need is exceptional musical skills and you are good to go. To train music in a public school, you will need a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). For elementary school, you will be generally trained to teach all subjects but with emphasis in music. To teach high schools, you will be trained to teach music and another subject.

To teach music in a conservatoire, you will need postgraduate qualifications in music.

The prerequisite to having a music teacher career is to have a diploma or degree in music. You will need to have a 2 A levels and 5 GCSEs which include music.
