The career of a nurse revolves around providing the appropriate healthcare services to various patients. A nurse provides diagnostic and medical testing, routine exams, medications, treatments, immunizations, medical documentation, assistance, support and education. One’s scope of responsibilities depends on what type of nurse one is.  The path to a nursing career may start from by becoming a nurse assistant, an LVN/LPN or a registered nurse.  Then one may then specialize.  One may choose to handle adults, children or patients with learning disabilities or mental health issues.  To pursue one’s career path in nursing, an individual must secure the necessary requirements and coursework.

How to become a Nurse

Threading the path of a nursing career requires one to decide what he wants to specialize in. One may start by becoming a nurse assistant.  To become a nurse assistant, one must take short courses through nursing schools and then secure a certification.  The LVN/LPN, on the other hand, must take an accredited LPN/LVN training program and then take the NCLEX-PN examination.  The requirement to become a registered nurse is an associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing.  One must get the necessary certification in order to practice as a nurse.  An individual may then continue to pursue higher studies and take specialized courses.  It is a must that one is sure what specialization he wants to pursue since degree programs vary.
