A nurse case manager plays an important role in the healthcare industry.  It is the responsibility of a nurse case manager to makes sure that a patient receives the care and services he needs.  They are responsible in monitoring and evaluating treatment procedures and services given to a specific patient.  He is to communicate and coordinate with physicians, healthcare providers and service providers to ensure that the best possible healthcare service is carried out to the patient.  The nurse case manager manages and monitors medical records, documents, bills and schedules.  This is important so that the patient is able to get the right kind of service at the right time.

How to become a Nurse Case Manager

To start one’s career as a nurse case manager, one must earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing.  Become a registered nurse by taking the licensure exam.  One may then seek employment in various hospitals, clinics or other healthcare facilities.  While gaining much experience one must decide to determine what on what specific specialty he wants to practice case management.  Then one may take a masters degree in nursing case management or take specialized courses through a case management certificate program.  Upon receiving a certification, one can start his career as a nurse case manager.
