Ocean Engineering Career

Ocean engineering involves the study of the sea and ocean environments on how the sea and ocean water affect vessels and watercraft. Ocean engineers figure out how long materials take to wear out in sea water, what materials are suitable for use in sea equipment and their costs. Besides the salty water, ocean engineers also have to be concerned about the effect of sand, sea life and waves on human aspirations.

How to Become an Ocean Engineer

To become an ocean engineer, you must have at least a bachelor’s degree in ocean engineering studies. To study for a degree in this field, you must have knowledge and passes in high school science subjects (biology, physics and chemistry) and mathematics. You will also find the knowledge you gained in geography and environment studies vital although not mandatory.  You can then make your application to the right institution of tertiary learning, whether a community college, technical institution or university. You must complete your studies to be certified as a qualified ocean engineer.
