An aspiring oil rig crane operator must undergo a crane operator training program and an offshore training. A certification is required by OHSA or Occupational Safety and Health Administration. To be considered as an oil rig crane operator, one must gain the necessary experience required by the employer. The offshore training program is usually given by the employer. A person’s character is important as well, employers look for someone who is driven, trustworthy, and dependable. He must be able to work well with a team.
