Career Description:

Performance management is the set processes or activities implemented by a performance manager that ensures improvement of employee performance and achievement of the organization’s goals.  The performance manager takes on the duty to hire, train and evaluate staff based on the policies of the organization.  He is responsible for establishing the employee expectations.

It is his job to make sure that employees know and do what is expected of them.  He draws out plans and develops activities that will ensure that the employees do have the skills and knowledge needed for a specific position in the organization.  The performance manager is to evaluate and provide feedback regarding employee performance.  Employee rewarding system is handled by a performance manager.  With a career that requires mainly the management of people, the performance manager has to have strong communication and interpersonal skills.

How to become a Performance Manager

A person aspiring to become a performance manager must earn a bachelor’s degree in human resources management, communication, business, administration and other related fields.  One must seek to pursue higher studies and earn a master’s degree.  Grab the chance of getting into an internship and gain practical experience.  Gain much experience to be able to be considered for the position.  Though it is not necessarily a requirement, obtaining a certification while on the job may just give one a better chance of advancement.
