Personal security career refers to a job where security agents and bodyguards undertake the responsibility of protecting a person who may under threat from someone or who may be very famous and high profile personality. Personal security is an ideal career if you have martial arts training, experience in the armed services and are in excellent physical condition.

They are mainly hired by celebrities like actors and sport stars who need protection from fans, stalkers or the paparazzi. There are no specific education requirements for this position as long as you are in shape.

How to become a personal security agent:

You need to have very good physical fitness and must have some training in combat so that you can handle any attack on your client. If you fulfill these criteria, you can enroll in an agency which refers security agents to high profile celebrities. Remember that you will have to be around them most of the time, be alert and willing to work for long hours.

You can do an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in personal security and there are also some certificate courses offered by private institutes. You can also study criminal justice. Most of the candidates have a history in working for law enforcement agencies and must be very discreet about their clients

You can enroll in any training program that teaches how to handle threats to the client or you can also do martial arts course on hands on combat, gun training to get more skills. Some states also require you to hold a license.
