The personal shopper career requires an individual who is stylish and exudes a high sense of professionalism.  The personal shopper takes on different titles such as image consultant or fashion consultant.  One is responsible for selecting and purchasing of items like clothing, accessories, groceries and other merchandise.  He is to provide customized or personalized service to clients. The personal shopper is to build relationships with clients to gain loyalty and trust.  One aims to build a string of loyal customers.  He is to give clients a shopping experience that is easy according to their needs and wants.  A personal shopper must have excellent customer service, communication, organization and management skills.

How to become a Personal Shopper

An aspiring personal shopper does not need a specific educational background.An individual will be best equipped through a business-related degree. One may major in retailing and retail operations, auctioneering, selling skills and sales operations, special products marketing operations or other related fields. A background in fashion design is also advantageous. Obtain certification through the Association if Image Consultants International. Gain experience in retailing or buying.  Having skills in customer service, communication, accounting and use of computers will help one become successful in this type of career.
