How to become a Respiratory Therapist

To become a respiratory therapist, one must earn an associate or bachelor’s degree in respiratory therapy.  One may pursue a program in respiratory therapy through medical or vocational schools. One may pursue further studies and earn a master’s degree. One must obtain a license and certification to be able to practice as a respiratory therapist. Obtain a certification through the National Board of Respiratory Care. Gaining relevant experience and advanced studies will help one advance into supervisory or managerial positions.  One may also become qualified to teach by having a graduate degree.
