The career of a salesperson revolves around selling products or services.  The salesperson takes on responsibilities and duties regarding all activities in sales.  A salesperson is tasked to sell and present to prospective clients, plan and prepare sales targets, generate leads, prepare proposals and contracts, develop sales materials, manage account services, handle customer concerns, prepare reports, and develop sales activities.  He is also tasked to provide information and present new products or services provided by the company.  A salesperson is to maintain and establish customer relationships to be able to reach specific goals or targets.  One must have excellent skills in customer service as well as negotiation.  Having skills in both written and oral communication will help on in presentations and proposals.

To become a salesperson, one must earn a college degree.  One may pursue a business-related field such as marketing.  It is also a very good option to pursue a field that is related to the product or service one wants to sell.  Gain relevant experience in sales and marketing.  To become successful, one should have excellent customer service, communication and negotiation skills.  Be well-versed with the product or service that is being sold.  Learn the different strategies and techniques of closing a sale or dealing with different types of customers.
